Google has announced that Chrome browser version 88 and beyond will begin blocking web pages with mixed content beginning January 2021. Publishers are urged to check their websites to make sure there are no resources that are being loaded using insecure HTTP protocol.
What is Mixed Content?
Mixed content occurs when initial HTML is loaded over a secure HTTPS connection, but other resources (such as images, videos, stylesheets, scripts) are loaded over an insecure HTTP connection. This is called mixed content because both HTTP and HTTPS content are being loaded to display the same page, and the initial request was secure over HTTPS.
Mixed content presents a security risk for your site visitor as well as to your website. Here are some useful instructions to help fix mixed content.
Impacts to Predictive Users
Where mixed content is discovered:
Customers who use links in Predictive emails with HTTP protocol will experience blocked links for Chrome users. Follow these instructions to make sure you only add secure links to your emails.
Customers who use the standard Predictive email editor will not experience any issues with images as Predictive stores the images using secure protocol.
Customers who use the HTML source editor, or the HTML upload feature and have resources (images, videos, stylesheets, scripts) on sites with HTTP protocol may be blocked. See what editor interfaces are affected.
BeePro users will not experience any issues with images because they are hosted through AWS, which uses secure protocol. However, any externally hosted URLs or images on sites with HTTP protocol may be blocked.
